The Saratoga was built for the U.S. Navy in the 1950s. She was used extensively in the Mediterranean, and then in Vietnam War and was part of the U.S. Atlantic fleet which participated in operation Desert Storm in 1990/91. Various aircraft from the carrier were used including A-6 Intruders, F-14 Tomcats and F/A-18 Hornets. The carrier’s defenses against enemy attacks include helicopters and planes against submarines, various missiles and radar-controlled high speed guns. Launched in 1956, the Saratoga was continuously up-dated, especially its radar and electronic systems. She was decommissioned in 1994.
