Bergepanzer is a combat support vehicle based on the Leopard 2 main battle tank. Due to the weight of the Leopard 2 a special recovery vehicle was needed. Applications include recovering and towing tracked vehicles, securing tracked vehicles when crossing water, providing support during repair work, recovering battle tanks with rapid recovery equipment under armor protection, clearing obstacles and earth works.
