As the advocate war tank from middleperiod of theseventies to the eighties, 74 types tank was thesecond generation of tanks which Japan designed after the war, development started in 1964. Made some test cars during 1964- 196, and carried on the test. Finished the part after developing the experimental task in 1967, began to develop the sample car, was named STB, mean " thesecond generation of domestic tank sample car ".
