The 9K720 Iskand er  (NATO reporting name SS-26 Ston e) is a mobile short-rangeballistic missile system produced and deployed by the Russian Federation . The road-mobile Iskand er was theSecondattempt to replace the Scud missile. The first attempt, the Oka, was eliminatedunder the INF Treaty. The Iskand er appears to have several differentconvention al warheads, including a cluster munition s warhead, a fuel-airexplosive enhanced-blast warhead, a high explosive-fragmentation warhead, anearth penetrator for bunker busting and an electromagnetic pulse device for anti-radar mission s. The missile can also carry nuclear warheads. The first successful launch occurred in 1996. In 2006, serialproduction of the Iskand er-M Tactical Ballistic Missile System launched, and the system was adopted by the Russian army.
