Almost 300 people enjoyed perfect weather, the Saturday evening pig roast was unbelievable, and over 100 heli pilots flying Hirobo and other helis had a super time at this most magnificent, huge facility. Imagine 10 helis in the air at once with as much as 200 feet separation between them! Speaking of separation, the Weak Signals ran a flawless transmitter impound area throughout the event.
When the flying or the weather got too hot, spectators were able to move indoors and see the full range of Hirobo helicopters, and fly the Eagle Freya .90 on MRC's Reflex XTR flight simulator. MRC also displayed the latest Academy plastic helicopter model kits and 4WD R/C vehicles. MRC's Super Brain chargers were on display too, but the new, do-it-all, best of the best, AC/DC Super Brain 989 drew all the attention, because of its 8-LiPo, 25 NiCd/NiMH, 10 Amp charge/discharge, 24 memories/ 1-30V power supply and more capabilities!
All pilots received special gifts; popular canvas tool bags from Hirobo, as well as many other really cool raffle prizes ranging from shirts, to MRC/Hirobo wind socks, to MAH carbon blades, blade bags, Reflex XTR Flight Simulators and more!
Hirobo flying team members "buddy-boxed" new flyers... newbie's experiencing the Shuttle Evolution, and "low-hour" fliers picked up hovering tips from the pro's. The Hirobo Team also helped lesser skilled pilots with setup and adjustments. Flying demo's by some of the USA's best were absolutely awe inspiring, with heart pounding maneuvers the rule, rather than the exception. How do they recover from those gazillion miles an hour tail down verticals?????
Of course, the new Hirobo Lepton EX electric heli was the most anticipated demo model, and MRC's Jeff Green and other team members didn't disappoint! Almost .30 size with .50 size performance, Hirobo's latest really showed that it deserves all the accolades it's been receiving!
Speaking of demos, the big, twin rotor CH-46 Vertol and the AH-1W Super Cobra were the most requested and most photographed aircraft of the event. Due to the scale detail and Jeff's smooth flight performance, these two models really made you think that the full size heli was overhead. The brand new blue & white 500D body was a real “looker” too. It fits over a standard Sceadu .50, and has beautiful flight characteristics. The really neat thing is the exhaust exiting from the center rear of the fuselage….how cool is that!!!
A grand event deserved grand prizes, and one lucky 2nd prizewinner won a very special Hirobo Freya .90, that will be built and delivered to his home by an MRC/Hirobo factory team pilot for a weekend of flying fun. The 1st prizewinner will enjoy an all-expense paid trip to a major (Full Size) Helicopter manufacturer on the East Coast, including a VIP tour of the facility. What could MRC and Hirobo do for the Grand prizewinner? How about an all expense paid trip to Japan!! That's right... the Grand prizewinner will be going to Japan in November, to tour Hirobo's factory, and attend the 2006 Hirobo Cup Grand Final.
All good things come to an end but many said it was the best fun-fly they ever attended, and when can we do it again?? Hey, ya neva know!! But you'll read about it right here on MRC's website!
