MRC Train Controls

(Continued)

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN PROGRAMMING A LOCO?
We told our engineers that unless we could offer simplified, intuitive programming we wouldn't put a system on the market. Now that MRC's Command 2000 is ready, you'll find we nailed it. Programming is easy.
First, we created a sequentially numbered, quick-read, pocket-sized card that allows you to program a loco in about a minute. No rummaging through instruction booklets. Then we made the whole sequence simple.

Here's how a typical programming sequence works with MRC's Command 2000 system:
To program a loco...

1. Place decoder equipped loco on the track.
2. Press buttons 9-4-4-4-5
3. Adjust the programming slide controls
a. Throttle 1 adjusts the "Start Voltage."
b. Throttle 2 adjusts the "Acceleration Rate."
c. Throttle 3 adjusts the "Deceleration Rate"
4. Press button for appropriate throttle. You have completed the programming.
5. Press button 9 (Reset)
6. Press button 5 (Run).
7. Move Throttle you programed upward and the loco starts to move.

It's that simple. You have programmed, and are now operating your first DCC Locomotive with the MRC Command 2000 system in less than a minute!

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
You'll find that MRC has not only taken the complexity out of DCC, but we've made it affordable as well. Check with your favorite dealer. You will be surprised at how inexpensive the MRC system is.

WHAT IS INCLUDED WHEN I BUY AN MRC DCC SYSTEM?
The system includes a command control base unit, a decoder equipped Athearn F7A diesel locomotive, accessory power supply and easy to read instruction booklet. Or, you can purchase the Command 2000, locomotive and power supply seperately. In addition, every MRC system delivers 50 years of MRC railroading experience and service.

WHAT SCALES WILL MRC'S DCC RUN?
Command 2000 will run most HO, N and G scale locomotives.

WILL MRC'S COMMAND 2000 WORK WITH OTHER DCC SYSTEMS?
Yes. It is compatible with most DCC systems so you can have friends bring their locos with other brand decoders and run them on your layout.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN USE MRC'S DCC SYSTEM AT ONE TIME?
Using the MRC Command 2000 with the optional Hand Held Walk-Around 2000, two people can easily have independent control of their locos at the same time.

WHAT KIND OF POWER SOURCE DO I NEED?
That depends on how many trains you're running. You can use the power pack you were using to run your conventional layout. The MRC Command 2000 unit can use either DC or AC to power it up. MRC now offers AC power supply AD510. It can generally operate 6 or 7 locos at the same time. If you need more power, MRC now has the AD501 Power Station 8 which will give you more than enough power to operate 20 or more HO locomotives simultaneously!

I HAVE BLOCKS IN MY LAYOUT DO I HAVE TO REWIRE MY LAYOUT?
No. You may leave the blocks in place and just turn all block switches to "on."

I HAVE A REVERSE LOOP. MUST I USE EXTERNAL SWITCHES?
MRC Auto Reverse Loop Module will automatically reverse the polarity without the need for any manual switching.

I HAVE SMALL HO SWITCHES. WILL MRC DECODERS FIT INTO IT?
That all depends on the actual size available. Please refer to our online catalog for decoder dimensions. In many cases, MRC N Scale will work well on smaller, low power switcher HO locos.

WHY CAN'T I PROGRAM MY LOCOMOTIVE OR GET IT TO
RUN ON THE TEST TRACK WITH THE RESISTOR?
The test track is for just checking the decoder installation. The resistor prevents full voltage from reaching the decoder in the event it is wired incorrectly. All you should have is headlights glowing dimly. Once the decoder installation is confirmed correct, move the locomotive to your layout or programming track and proceed from there.

HOW DO I INSTALL A MRC DECODER TO THE MRC PLATINUM LOCOMOTIVE?
Detailed Instructions can be found in this pdf file.
