| Tech 4 250 & 350 Features Detail Tech 4 Railpower 250 and 350 units are packed with features to make your layout come alive. Here are some of the exciting adjustable controls and simple method of programming. Please note that both units are equipped with a microprocessor. Please wait 30 seconds before powering up after a shutdown. * Adjustable momentum (Both Units): Momentum simulates the action of a real locomotive or train, not the jack-rabbit starts or stops of that train set you had as a child. Real locomotives and trains start or stop differently depending on their loads and weight. You can mimic this action by adjusting the momentum setting for the train you are using. Programming procedure: Press the program button, adjust the momentum with the throttle dial, press the momentum button, re-press the program button. * Starting voltage, (Tech 4-250 only): Get that locomotive that starts too high on the throttle dial to start at a lower throttle setting. Great for those balky "N" scale locomotives. Programming procedure: Press the program button, adjust the start voltage with the throttle dial. Press the start volts button, then re-press program button. * Maximum Voltage (Both Units): You can set the maximum speed of the train you are using, and have greater control of it throughout its entire speed range. Programming procedure: Press the program button, set the maximum voltage with the throttle dial. Press the max volts button, then re-press the program button. OTHER EXCITING FEATURES INCLUDE: * Direction switch: Just a press of a button changes your train's direction. Depending on your momentum setting, your train will gradually slow to a stop, reverse, and gradually speed up, without touching the throttle! * Emergency Stop Button: Bypasses all adjustments for immediate stops. * Brake Button: Used with your momentum setting, the brake button lets you gradually slow your train for that yellow signal ahead, or slowly come to a stop at the station. * Power On-Off Switch: Shuts off power to the unit. On the Tech 4 250, shutting off the power cancels the last adjustments made, and the unit reverts to factory settings. The Tech 4 350 retains the last settings used until you physically change them. Shutting the unit off or unplugging the unit does not affect memory on the Tech 4 350. * Power Indicator LEDs: Allow you to check power levels to the track. In case of a short circuit or overload condition, the LEDs will blink to notify you of a problem. * Walkaround Jack: Both Tech 4 250 and 350 are equipped with a walkaround jack for use with the optional hand-held controller. Both units use the same walkaround controller, MRC part #AB800, available separately through your local hobby dealer. * Throttle Select Switch (Tech 4 250 Only): Lets you switch back and forth between your Tech 4 250 and your Tech 4 Walkaround. * Throttle Selection (Tech 4 350): With the walkaround controller plugged into the main unit, you can select either main throttle control or walkaround throttle control by a quick movement of either throttle dial. The locomotive will continue to run at the last speed setting of the last throttle engaged. * Turbo Boost Circuitry: Both Tech 4 250 and 350 are equipped with this new patent pending circuit developed by MRC's engineers to overcome static friction and ensure smooth jerk-free starts. * Fixed AC and DC Voltage Outputs: Both Tech 4 250 and 350 units are equipped with this feature for versatile accessory options. * Ultra Speed Setting: This extra exciting feature of the Tech 4 350 is great for yard work. Programming is simple; enter the program mode, hit the direction button, exit the program mode. The maximum voltage will be cut in half to provide you with an ultra slow speed control. NOTE: Different manufacturers' locomotives will respond differently to various adjustments. Some experimentation on your part is needed to adjust settings to your particular locomotive. |
