Gallery Models is a concept developed by Model Rectifier Corporation (MRC) together with prominent designers, mold-makers, historians and modelers. For more than 60 years, MRC has been respected industry-wide for its knowledge and skill in selecting, creating and marketing some of the world’s most highly praised kits.

Only the spectacular will do
The central idea propelling Gallery Models is to select subjects that will challenge the hobbyist’s imagination and building skills while providing outrageous detail and enormous intrinsic kit value. As Gallery’s theme line suggests, they only create “Spectacular Models.”

“The finest model ship kit ever made” This penchant for absolute perfection and unique subjects can be seen in Gallery Models’ very first kit, the 1/350 scale USS Wasp (LDH-1). Sherman Collings, noted model builder, historian and expert on military aircraft and ships, (his models are on display at the Smithsonian Institution,) called the Wasp the “finest plastic model ship kit ever made.” 1,000 pieces kick off the challenge It bristles with nearly 1,000 pieces and is the only 1/350 model of its kind. Onboard are 18 aircraft, including helicopters and V/STOL fighters. The four MV-22 Ospreys and eight helicopters are virtually kits in their own right. In addition, LCAC assault hovercraft, flight deck tractors and cranes, tanks, artillery and other equipment that populated the original Wasp are thoughtfully part of the Gallery Model’ Wasp experience.

We could go on about the painstaking detail and research we do on every Gallery Model. How we obsess over photos and drawings, blueprints and histories. How the best craftspeople in the business track and analyze every detail for inclusion. But the only way to truly understand these “Spectacular Models” and the value they deliver is to put your hands on the USS Wasp or at least see one at your hobby shop.
